About Us
Sharks are a much maligned, often misunderstood apex predator and despite media hype and public misconceptions man has very little to fear from them. Sharks on the other hand are currently being harvested from our oceans at unsustainable levels, pushing many species to the brink of extinction. Up to 100,000,000 sharks are killed each year, often just for their fins which forms the main ingredient in the asian delicacy Sharks Fin Soup.
Elasmo Films aim to make genuinely valid public interest and conservation films about sharks and other marine issues based on fact, high quality camerawork, lively scripts and enthusiasm led presentation and narration. We believe that sharks are sensational animals, but we don't believe that good shark films need to be based on lurid, inaccurate, exploitative or sensational portrayals.
In 2009 we released our Award Winning feature documentary ‘Sharks in British Seas’ to much critical acclaim. We are currently at various stages of development on a number of future projects so please read this website for further details.
